Fall Kinder and Youth Basketball Registration Coming Sept. 9 Fall Kinder and Youth Basketball registration through Parker Recreation will open online on Tuesday, Sept. 9 at www.ParkerRec.com. Registration for teams are filled on a first come, first served basis. Parker Fieldhouse selected as a 2008 Athletic Business Facility of Merit Chosen from among 89 outstanding projects that appeared in the June 2008 Architectural Showcase issue of Athletic Business magazine, the Parker Fieldhouse has been selected as a 2008 Facility of Merit. This award recognizes 10 state-of-the-art sports, wellness or recreation facilities each year from a pool of projects that includes municipal and YMCA recreation center, health and wellness facilities, as well as collegiate and professional sports venues. For recreation and sports facilities, this is the single most prestigious award available! New Fitness Classes Coming in September The Parker Recreation Center is kicking off fall with a new lineup of specialty fitness classes, challenges and group fitness classes. Fitness and Wellness staff members draw their inspiration for new classes from national fitness trends as well as from customer requests. As you may notice, quite a few of these new offerings step up the intensity level for intermediate to advanced exercisers. Parker Recreation Hiking Club returns to Castlewood Canyon Sept. 16 The Parker Recreation Hiking Club is planning a Sept. 16 outing to Castlewood State Park to hike the Inner Gulch Trail. Fitness staff members Heidi Humphreys and Hillary Roemersberger will lead this easy two mile outing. Come climb Mt. Everest at the Parker Fieldhouse Come join Dyno Rockets, a youth climbing club at the Parker Fieldhouse, and climb the south route up Mt. Everest! Parker Fieldhouse Day Camps extend through end of year Due to tremendous success of the Parker Fieldhouse Summer Camp for Kids, the Recreation Department will be continuing the camp into the fall appealing to those on the track system or traditional breaks from school! 60+ Olympic Challenge Join us for Parker Recreation’s first 60+ Olympic Challenge. A self-paced Triathlon Challenge will be held the week of Aug. 3. Events will include a half mile swim, biking 12 miles and a three mile run/walk. Aerobics classes may also supplement an event by completing at least three classes throughout the week, per event.
