      Historic Latta Plantation is a circa 1800 cotton plantation and living history farm, located within Latta Plantation Nature Preserve.  Tours of the Latta home are guided, and tours of the grounds are self-guided.

Join us throughout December for daily Christmas tours of the plantation home!

December 6, 2008 (6-9pm) A Candlelight Christmas  Celebrate an 1800s Christmas by candlelight.  Walk the plantation house, kitchen, cabin, and grounds by candlelight as Christmas is celebrated as in days of old.  The plantation will decorated for the season- one of our most beautiful events!  Admission is $6 per person, ages 5 and under free.

December 10, 2008 (12-4pm) A Homeschool Christmas   A Christmas celebration for homeschoolers of all ages, and their families.  Learn about 19th century Christmas traditions, make crafts, smell baking in the kitchen, visit with a Victorian St. Nick. and more!  Admission is $5 per person, ages 4 and under free.

January 10 (10am-4pm) - 11 (1-4pm), 2008  Civil War Winter Quarters and Homefront  Learn how families survived while soldiers were away at war.  Also, find our the impact of the homeguard on local communities and how soldiers spent their time during brutal winters encamped with the armies.  Demonstrations of weaving, cooking, and more!  Free with Regular Admission ($6 for adults, $5 for seniors 62+ and students, ages 5 and under free).

Upcoming Workshops

Open Hearth Cooking Workshop  Saturday, 17, 2009 (10am-4pm)  Learn the basics of open hearth cooking as we make a full course meal in the kitchen!  The cost is $30 per person (limited to 6 participants).  Members receive a 10% discount.

Natural Dyeing Workshop  Saturday, January 24, 2009 (9:30am-4pm)  Learn about the chemistry and techniques of natural dyeing.  Dye and take home a cotton scarf and silk handkerchief.  The cost is $50 per person (limited to 6 participants).  Members receive a 10% discount.

Knitting Workshop   Saturday, February 21, 2009 (Session 1: 9am-12pm) (Session I1: 1-4pm)  Learn the basics of knitting: cast-on, knit stitch, purl stitch, basic patterns, cast off.  Take home knitting- yarn and needles.  The cost is $35 per person (limited to 6 participants per session).  Members receive a 10% discount.
