12/1 - Cultural Day of Celebration - The District Office celebrated culture and diversity last month with an exhibit of international food and art. Artwork on display included statues, carvings, clothing, musical instruments and dolls from various countries such as Mexico, India, Germany and Africa. Ethnic food was donated and prepared by members of the Human Resources Department and featured cuisine from India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Norway, Sweden and, of course, the United States. Also on display was a travelogue highlighting countries visited by Darlene VanLengen, Executive Secretary for Human Resources, and her husband which included China, Germany, Italy, Ecuador and Mexico. Members of the faith community were also in attendance. The event was coordinated by Rhoda Ferrell and Linda Broussard, under the direction of Jim Springfield, Executive Director for Human Resources.
