Kaufman and Broad Donates $100,000 to Del Valle Independent School District

AUSTIN, TEXAS (August 31, 1999) -- Kaufman and Broad builds for a brighter future in a new partnership with Del Valle Independent School District. Kaufman and Broad will donate $100,000 to the Del Valle Independent School District, one of the most significant contributions in the adopt-a school program entering the new millennium.

 

“In building a stronger community, we hope Kaufman and Broad’s commitment will enable students and teachers to achieve success for the future,” states Larry Oglesby, president of Kaufman and Broad. “Kaufman and Broad’s contribution will benefit Del Valle’s children, families, and community of teachers.”

“The funds will help the district improve the quality of education, and raise community awareness on education for today’s children. Of the total contribution, 60 percent will support the “Best Practices Academy,” a nine-month training program designed to broaden the perspective of teachers in the areas of instruction, community/family involvement, and management. About 40 percent of the funds are earmarked towards high school scholarships for students pursuing studies in trade and technology. Kaufman and Broad’s $100,000 contribution will be distributed over a four-year period.

Kicking-off the last new school year of the century, Kaufman and Broad is proud to sponsor an art and essay contest for Dell Valle’s students capturing the theme “Austin’s Dream Homes in the New Millennium.” Del Valle’s best and the brightest will have the opportunity to share their thoughts on the future of Austin, one of the nation’s fastest growing markets. Kaufman and Broad of Austin expects to build 1000 homes in the year 2000.

The check presentation and millennium contest announcement will be made at the Del Valle school board meeting on Tuesday, August 31st at 7:30 p.m. - at Baty Elementary School, located at 2101 Faro Drive in Austin.
